Through the years I have done various media for artistic expression using my spare time to create works of art for family gifts and myself.  Recently I made the decision to pursue my love of mosaic tile creations on a full time basis.

As a graduate of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh I am able to use my background in layout and design to create variations with pieces of broken pottery, china, stained glass, buttons, figurines, jewelry and found objects. My work reflects a unique style using mosaic tiles and unusual objects to embrace color and texture. Small grout lines enable each piece to be about the design and not about the grout. Shattered treasures are turned into inspired creations by using a mixed media that becomes a one-of-a-kind, striking handcrafted piece of art.

Each one of my unusual mirrors, clocks, wall picture frames, dishes and pots is named and comes with a certificate of authenticity that attests to the fact each mosaic treasure became a one of a kind inspired creation by F.R. Nelson of Magical Mosaics.
